I was thinking about taking the back neck off of my "79 Super Pro and making it a "LDG" type model. Other than resale value is there anything wrong with this idea? Or will it affect the front neck in any way?

I've seen several brands of steels that have had the back neck removed and a pad installed. There are pros and cons on whether that affects the sound (I don't think it does).
Another option is to tune that neck to E9th also (I've heard of those that did this). If you are on a job and you break a string or whatever all you have to do is flip the neck switch and continue playing. |

never thought of that, sounds interesting. I was hoping by taking off all the additional hardware it would also lighten it up for carrying purposes. _________________ Sho Bud Super Pro

Maybe, you could trade it, for an LDG, and save a D-10? _________________ “TONESNOB†|

Edward, I would seriously consider that, tried to sell but didn't get much interest so figured maybe try this since I have another D-10 _________________ Sho Bud Super Pro

I wouldn't do it to a SuperPro or any D-10 for that matter. I'd find an LDG or Loafer or look at builders doing SD-10. Plenty to choose from. I think you'd get good resale from S~P and be able to swing into to what you want. |
