Does the SE300 come original, with an 8 or 4 ohm speaker? _________________ Dick Lotspeich |

It comes with a 4?? So it must be the delta bass speaker? Most Delta standard magnets, looked to be 8 ohms. Thanks for the reply. _________________ Dick Lotspeich |

The magnet has nothing (well, very little) to do with the impedance, it's the coil. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I meant,,it didn't come with a neodymium. The 8 or 4 ohm will still determine the 150 vs 300 watts correct?? _________________ Dick Lotspeich |

Right. The load changes the response of the amp: see the popular side dish, Ohm Slaw. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I liked the sound of the new Evans amp so much I bought one. I have the one with the 15 inch speaker. Smaller and lighter than the Nashville 112, plus a lot more power. |

I did also...great amp. I should have looked before. I played an Evans 500 LV, Fet for 25 years and just assumed the 300 had the same ohm rating. Faux Paus on me (foot in mouth) |

I bought the new Evans amp because of the quality of the tone. It does have a lot of tone control knobs, but Scot sends a booklet with each amp that helps you set the knobs. I personally use my Hilton Legend Pro Delay in the send and return loop. When your band members brag on your sound every time you play a dance---then you know you have purchased the right amp. Every time I play the SE300 at a dance least 5 people tell me how great my sound is. I can hear the great sound also, plus it cuts through. It is a feeling of being in control. Also important---the SE300 with a 15 inch speaker is lighter and smaller than the Peavey Nashville 112. The SE300 has 300 watts into a 15 inch speaker, and the Nashville 112 has 85 watts into a 12 inch speaker. I was not given the amp, I paid full price.
I see many people bragging about equipment they have been given. I wonder if they really like the equipment, or do the bragging to keep someone happy. Sad but so true. I don't owe Evans Amps anything, because I paid full price, because I liked the amp. |

Wouldn't it be 150 watts, played through the 8 ohm internal speaker only? You get the 300 after adding an 8 ohm extension speaker,, and running both cuts it to 4 ohms for the full 300. _________________ Dick Lotspeich |
