I am looking for a vintage Gibson lap steel. Want to buy or trade.
Thanks Gene |

Not interested in any trades, but I have a second-generation (circa 1951 -- one of the blue ones) Century-6 that I would be willing to part with. It's not cherry by any means, but it's fully functional and sounds sweeter than Mother Teresa. As far as I can tell it's totally original with the following exceptions:
1) Its original speed knobs had gone missing, so I replaced them with modern repros from Gibson.
2) I replaced two of the bridge mounting screws with new ones that are correct for the application.
3) I refurbished the original Kluson Deluxes and replaced their crumbling white plastic buttons.
4) The original fingerrest had gone missing (which was fine with me because they get in my way, so I always pull 'em off anyhow).
5) No case, but will include a new Gretsch gig bag that fits it like a glove.
I can snap some pix and post later, along with other pertinent info, if interested. $350.00, shipped to Texas. |

Mike Amato of Bedford Banjo Shop in Bedford PA has a Gibson Six for sale. I have played it and would purchase it myself but I have enough steels. Call him at 814-623-2187 and mention my name. Pictures are available on his web site. |

Many thanks to Jack and Robert. I am checking on both of them. Am really looking for more of a high end lap steel. Even an older Gretch lap steel.
Thanks Gene |
