Hey Folks,
I was wondering what strings come stock on a standard E9 Zum Encore.
I know I could email Doug, but I figured why bother him when someone here probably already knows.
Thanks,
Karl |

I don't know the brand of strings ghe guitar comes with, but the gauges are .013, .015, .011, .014, .017, .020, .026W, .030W, .034W, .038W. |

But I ordered my Encore (008) with an .012" 3rd and an .018" 5th. No problem. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

I may be mistaken, but I believe Doug ships with GHS strings. Further though, I don't think he minds a bit when folks contact him regarding anything about his guitars. In my experience, he's top notch for communication and customer support!
Also, FWIW I've taken to putting the Mike Siegler signature set of Jagwire Strings on my Encore and they play great on that guitar... |

So far, the only brand of strings that I have found that have the same gauges that Doug suggests in the paperwork that comes with an Encore are the D'Addario EPS490 E9 strings. I'm on my second set and I like D'Addario strings, but I think I'll try a custom set from Livesteel strings the next time I change 'em. |

Karl,
Is there something you don't like about the strings?
I ordered two new Williams guitars from Bill and there was something about the tone I didn't care for.
I contacted Bill and asked him if he put stainless steel strings on his guitars and he answered in the affirmative.
After I replaced the strings with nickel strings it sounded like I wanted it to. |

True. Doug builds a great guitar, and his customer service is outstanding! He's always gotten back to me promptly with answers to my questions, even as busy as he must be building guitars. |

Nothing wrong with the strings, they're just getting old and it might be time to replace soon. I've had the same set for a year. Finally broke one and I think I can tell the difference between the old and new.
I'll probably shoot Doug an email soon. He has been great as far as service. The pre-build back-and-forth was really easy and he was very helpful. |

I agree about Doug. He is with out a doubt, the finest man I've ever known. He will do what ever it takes to help you. On the StageOne, he recommends a .022W, not a plain, it does make a difference. _________________ Zum U-12, Carter SDU-12, Zum Encore, Emmons S-10, Emmons D-10, Nashville 400, Two Peavey Nashville 112, Boss Katana 100, Ibanez DD700, Almost every Lesson Jeff Newman sold. GHS Stainless are standard equipment.
I recommend Live Steel Strings as an upgrade. GHS does not sell a pre packaged set in the recommended sizes. |

The .022W must just be on the StageOne. Is that correct Doug? Thanks guy. Your still tops. _________________ Zum U-12, Carter SDU-12, Zum Encore, Emmons S-10, Emmons D-10, Nashville 400, Two Peavey Nashville 112, Boss Katana 100, Ibanez DD700, Almost every Lesson Jeff Newman sold. Coincidentally, I've just recently added the D'Addario E9th and C6th pedal steel sets to the SGF Store: www.steelguitarshopper.com/daddario-e9th-xl-pro-steels/. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |
