I have a Fender Blues Deluxe tube amp that is a 40 watt 1x12. I am wondering if I change out the speaker and put either the Travis Toy Eminence or Telonics 12 if it would make the amp pedal steel friendly? I appreciate any advice.

The amp, in the CLEAN mode , is Steel friendly until you reach the "low headroom" point. Basically the same amp as an HR Deluxe which many of us use or have used.
The amps tend to be bright which is not an issue but the desired headroom may very well be. Small rooms, very moderate volume, they are fine. But if you need to crank it..NOPE..
Grab a HR Deville or Blues Deville, the 60 watt big brother if you desire some more clean gain. _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

BTW: a 15" speaker would fit, too. |

A '15 inch speaker would fit in the Fender Blues Deluxe? Not without changing the baffle? |

Of course you have to build a new baffle. |

Take it from me. I tried. Unless you like an overdriven steel guitar sound, you'll spend less and sound better buying a cheap peavey amp than modifying your existing one. I finally came to terms with it. My 93 blues deluxe is a great guitar amp after all the mods and new speaker, but not a good steel amp. Just my two cents. _________________ '02 Carter S-12 uni

I am not using it for steel, I only said that a 15" speaker will fit in. |

An EVM 12L works well in the amp and gives you a little more volume compared to other speakers. _________________ Michael Brebes
