I'm guessing this in reference to Bill Johnson, who played steel for Marty Robbins for a long time.
On some of the old Marty Robbins "Spotlight" TV shows, you can often hear Marty's friendly bantering with band members.
On one particular show, Marty was mumbling a bit and I thought he referred to Bill by the nickname "Bluto", he of Popeye fame.
Am I correct or did my ears deceive me? |

Bill's work on "The Shoe Goes on the Other Foot Tonight" was priceless. Great tone, phrasing and lines that fit like a glove. _________________ Ray Harrison

At one time I owned the Bill Johnson '65 wraparound that he played on "Shoe Goes..." and sold it to a well-known Texas musician buddy of mine who, I assume, still cherishes it to this day.
Bill's widow... herself a great songwriter... called me a few years back wanting to acquire the guitar, but I sadly told her I no longer owned it. I gave her the whereabouts of the instrument but lost touch with the situation. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

I owned Bill's 1977 Emmons p/p about 10 years ago. Sold it to a fellow in Belfast, Northern Ireland. |
