I had previously posted how I lost track and attention on that coarse a couple years ago.
Well, I just recently found out that it came with an audio cd with Buddy explaining everything. I was trying to follow the book. BY itself.
Now that I've heard the cd, it's clear as a bell. Just a lot to remember and practice. But like everyone said, I can't picture a more "building block" instructional.
I've been sick lately and on cold medication and my mind has been foggy a little and hope some of my earlier post didn't sound incoherent or strange.
I appreciate everyone who tried to help me. I have regained excitement of the C6 after hearing Buddy and following him through his book.
I do still want jeff Norman's stuff too though |

Great Ben. I knew you would like it eventually. Buddy just has a WAY about him. I truly understood C6 after taking that course, and it really improved playing and understanding for me dramatically.
In fact, I began over playing C6 because it made me want to play what you would normally jump on with E9 and use the C6. A lot of bands kind of would question it. But I was pushing myself to feel comfortable playing ANY song on either tuning.
Good Stuff. |

Glad for you Ben, you're really gonna have some fun now!
Now I see why you had trouble... that audio track is EVERYTHING with that course. Buddy goes into so much detail that isn't written in the text. I still put it in just to hear him talk. When I hear that calm laid-back voice start it off by saying "The C Note", it instantly takes me back to the exciting time when I was first learning the C6. |

So true. I hear Buddy talking and it has the same effect on me. He said " establish these in your mind". That one sentence is the very essence of true musicianship. Reece and Jeff Newman both had that same ability to "get in your head". |

The page with the chord combinations is a little tricky and takes a while to get you head around. |

Thanks for the link Ken.
Idea...Maybe someone could do some short video commentary on Buddy's c6 course?? Perhaps just as a service to would be c6 players to help get their head around it. Quinten has a good point, it can be daunting, particularly for newcomers who don't necessarily have a strong theory background. Where Buddy titled that course as Basic C6, it is NOT a beginners course. It enters when a player is fairly intermediate to advanced with the e9 tuning, or at least that's my take on it.
It's a perfect unpacking of the c6 tuning with d on top c6 set up. |
