Mine is #443 an SD10, I bought it used the year Charlie Stepp passed. Was told then it was a year or so old. Don't believe to many were built after that, but do not believe mine was the last. I do think it was one of the last SD10s. Could be wrong.

I've got SD10 0317, but has an old crown logo. Someone must have replaced the original for some reason. Got it from David Nugent on the forum. Great guitar.

Charlie, Margit Stepp is on Facebook but never responded to my friend request.

I was just given Bob Calloway's #, he was instrumental in Mr. Stepp's operation. I'll try him in a while.

I used to own SD 10 4-5 # 274 Black with the big D logo

I now own D-10 8-6 # 27 It is like Charlie Moore's Black on the Aporns & Rosewood on the top.

I've been told this guitar was born in the era Buddy Emmons was workin' with Charlie Stepp.

David Weisenthal..If you look closely you may notice that the logo on your guitar is actually a modified pedal board decal (I believe that this fact was disclosed in my original ad). When I acquired the guitar the original was missing so I contacted Wanda at Billy Cooper Music (a long time Derby dealer) but unfortunately this was all that was available so technically, your guitar may be somewhat unique.

Derby #72 is a D10, not a SD12. It was originally 10+10. I had Charlie cut it down to 8+8 when I bought it early 90's. It was a studio guitar of a well known Nashville player who requested the hat and cane badge v. the crown logo of it's era. It is just like #27 except for the colored fretboard and the badge. W/G & Black. Both of those guitars belonged to Boogie Sherrard at the time of his passing.

I have only a poor quality photo of a picture of the guitar I took in 1997 or 8 before I sold it to Boogie.

Thank you everyone who has shared info and their knowledge of these fine steels. As we can see, there are many gaps in the data.

I have 0149, and it is an SD-10, not a D-10 (not trying to sound like a smarty pants or anything lol).. I was told it was around 1992, but wasn't told definitely. A friend of mine on facebook got in contact with Mrs. Stepp, but she hasn't returned any info yet. I am REALLY into dates, and the history of things, so I, like everyone else on this post, would like to know all I could possibly know. This Derby is one MIGHTY fine instrument! Good bless you all!!

Eric, not smarty pants at all. Thank you... Getting the history and info on a brand benefits present and future owners of any instrument, especially steel/pedal steel.

I too have tried contacting Mrs. Stepp and Bob Calloway, with no luck. If anyone gets up with them and gets the info, please share.
