New lap steel song

I have a new lap steel solo tune single out today. "Hymn For Him" is a song I wrote for my dear friend James Cruickshank (of Australian band The Cruel Sea - our friendship began with a conversation about lap steel), who sadly passed away last autumn. The song was recorded live at a concert in Berlin on 5 November, one month ago, and filmed - here is the video:

I played my Lap King Rodeo in G-minor tuning (with the Lollar Supro bridge pickup) though lots of reverb and shimmer. Not the traditional lap steel sound perhaps, but I like to try things from all sorts of different angles on this wonderful instrument. There will be more "slidey" playing on my next release, I promise! Smile

All profits from sales of this single will be donated to Devil Ark - a project to save the Tasmanian devil from extinction, and a cause that friends and family of James Cruickshank thought he would have approved of.
