Here are some pics. Strings are not on. "Internal Organs" are not installed. I'm going to try and wait until it is sold so that the new buyer's copedent can be put on. It has about 15-16 coats of nitrocellulose lacquer and all metal is polished. I will probably position the "K" a little closer to the changer end. Very close to a new "old" guitar.

LOL,,thanks Damir! I've re-positioned the "K" so it looks a lot better. The pics were taken in the shade so the beautiful figure in the wood is not showing up as well as it should. It's really some nice tiger stripe! I'll try to get better pics.
If this one doesn't sell I may have to sell Jeff Newman's 1983 Kline,,,LOL |

I am honestly very surprised this guitar hasn't sold already... I believe it to be worth at least $3000 easily ... _________________ www.steelguitarsonline.com |

Hi Sonny,
I have been watching the renovation on your Kline Universal 12 with great interest, you seem to be well versed with Kline guitars. Having just purchased a Kline Universal 12 myself I was wondering if you could help with the following problem. I was contemplating setting it up as per the late Jeff Newman setup. My Kline lowers the E's on the LKR which somewhat restricts my leg movement when in B6th. mode. To-date I have always played a D10 guitar with the standard E9th. and C6th. necks. so the Universal setup is new to me. Is it feasible to undertake this change without having to purchase additional parts and is there a rodding/pulling procedure that I need to follow. I have tried without success to contact Joe Kline. I would welcome any advice you have to offer. Thanks in advance. |

Hey Richard,,,,good to hear from you,,,CONGRATS on getting a Kline!!! Yes, I think Joe travels a bit and can be difficult to contact sometimes. The Kline mecanism can be pretty intimidating,,,,that RKR hook up is especially close,,,not for the faint of heart. There is a guy in UK that has a couple of Klines, as a matter of fact he has one of my old ones I think. As soon as I can think of his name I'll shoot you an email. I know he has made some parts and done work on his guitar,,,a good player as best I remember. Also Ian Rae (forum member) has built a guitar that has the same concept as a Kline,,,obviously very mechanically inclined. Oh yea,,,the guy I'm trying to remember is ALAN COOK! I think he is or was a forum member. See if you can contact one of those guys for some help. Once you get the Kline set up it will be worth any trouble,,,a hundred times over,,,LOL. |

Hi Sonny
Thanks you for your reply and the contact details I will get in touch with Alan. In the short time that I have owned my Kline I have learned to love it. So compact, light-weight with a soft pedal action plus split cases for transporting it. I initially found the sound had too much of a treble sound but over a couple of days I finally managed to get the sound I wanted out of my Telonics Combo 500 amp. Bell like highs and deep growling lows.
Regards
Richard |

Yes Richard,,since I owned my first Kline, I think I have owned every other make,,always come back to Kline,,,maybe 8-10 over the years. Right now I have Jeff Newman's old Kline set up in my room,,,still the exact same copedent as Jeff had. I think Winnie Winston did an experiment and determined the Kline had a much softer pedal action than other guitars. Joe now has Winnie's old Kline. I've always said,,"kline guitars 'sing' ". And after you get used to the synchronized yoke pulling system it seems like you can hear the "offset" pulls of bell crank guitars.
Damir,,,I think the red guitar is sold,,,waiting til the buyer gets the funds together. Joe has agreed to do a set up for the buyers copedent. If the deal goes south I'll probably list it in the "for sale" section,,,(have a couple of guys on the waiting list first),,,I think it is as close to a brand new guitar as possible,,,without actually being "NEW" |

Hi Sonny and Richard
Thanks for mentioning me Sonny I have two Kline guitars and I can do the work and make the parts although they are hand made and not up to Joe's standard. Most changes can be made without extra parts if there are sufficient components within the guitar. Richard has contacted me and I am waiting for his reply re changes copedent and pics of the guitar. I managed to contact Joe a copy of years ago he was very helpful and supplied all the parts I needed. Great looking guitar Sonny.

Hey Alan,,,,great to see your post,,,haven't heard from you in a while! Yes, I referred Richard to you and Ian, knowing you were both capable of helping him. We don't want to lose another potential Kline enthusiast due to lack of info about the mechanics of their guitar.
Thanks for the compliment,,,every time I look at it I think,,,man,,did I do that! It did turn out pretty nice,,,if I say so myself,,,but I appreciate the compliments from others,,,LOL |

"De Kline, De Kline".....that's what you do if there was defensive holding on your pass play that gained 25 yards! |

Hey Alan,,,good looking pics,,,love that "sepia" tone! Didn't you wind up with the mica, can't remember if it was dark brown or black,,,I sold it to Larry,,???,,can't remember his last name. The guitar had about a 1/4" hole in the back apron near the changer end? |
