Play your steel (etc) into this little box, out via midi 5 pin cable to your keyboard, pick a favorite patch and you are now a horn player, or organist etc.
V3 is the latest, only plays one note at a time but that is ok for lead lines anyway. $79 at Sweetwater.

I do not have a PC to play through, thus this handy little unit, drop it in my chair and off we go.
Larry the tracking is better with the Version 3 but still one needs to block really well to trigger correctly. For what little I might use it, it was worth the $$$$, looking for something new to experiment with.

In order to for that program to work, what do you need besides the program and a computer? Are the midi instruments built into the program?

Larry D., there is a youtube video titled latency test for the Sonuus G2M. I believe they say it's 16 to 30 ms. depending on programs etc.
Larry B., do you know how this compares to the synth programs in the old Boss SE70 I have? The electronics seem similar in design, monophonic etc. Works fine as long as your picking is strong and clean. Hopefully, the tracking is faster and truer.
This unit looks nice if you don't want to drag a PC around. I know I don't. Only drawback I see is it's monophonic, so no piano chords etc.? |

Jerry this works much faster than the Boss, I can use any patch in my keyboard, but patches with only 1 sound work best. Spacy sound effects not so good.
Horns, piano, organs is what I was shooting for.

I forgot about this old thread. Seems like Richard was not very impressed with the overall deal and the amount of extra gear required to make it usable for steel.

| Larry, I've been working with one of these V3 editions for a couple weeks now with the steel. I'm using a 1/4 rack Alesis nanosynth module with standard midi presets. I'm having fun with it, but the pianos are very hard to get cleanly even with the chromatic switch. FI, intro and t/a Behind Closed Doors. Any tips or tricks you can offer? |

Well, I've been using the nanosynth with the Roland VK7 for over a year now. It works fine there and has the same cpu and engines as the QS keyboards, so it should behave the same way. I haven't tried the G2M with my Roland keyboard yet though, so we'll see.
Anyway, I know there's a learning curve and proper picking technique issues, so perhaps things will get better with more attention to those.
Otherwise, it's great to have authentic sounds available via the converter with steel. The horns, organs, pianos, etc. all have a nice sound.
Actually, the pianos work better with a standard fretted guitar than with the barred steel. I guess because bumping a string up against a fixed fret is more akin to a key hammered string.
No gliss, slides, bends etc. allowed for sure with the pianos.
I'm pretty green with it but happy and will continue working on polishing and refining my technique. |

Erv, you will need a soundcard to get audio in.
There is a test piano plinky plinky in the software but there are tons of free instruments out there. for example Nubile (vst hammond organ) you can put in. |

I was able to get a demo at a discount, but right now they're selling for $59 if anybody's considering one. |
