She was a great vocalist and did a lot of good stuff. Still remember her recordings with Tennessee Ernie Ford and great steel playing by Speedy.

Yeah, that's a shame. You never hear anyone say anything bad about her. By all accounts, she was completely unassuming and likeable.

Now that she has passed, who is left alive among those who recorded prior to World War 2? Offhand, the only other person I can think of right now is Svend Asmussen, who I think is at least 100 years of age.

Kay was great from day one--recorded with Glenn Miller, Joe Venuti, Wingy Manone and then hundreds of recordings under her own name.

Got to see her once--at Lake Tahoe circa 1961.

Kay had a big hit with the teenagers in the fifties when I was in high school called "Rock & Roll Waltz". She had a great set of pipes for sure...JH in Va.
