Just a note to our "Forum" and steel guitar community. Fran Newman passed away early this morning as a result of a number of sudden and serious health complications. I know that many of you are aware of the many significant contributions that her and Jeff have made to our community...many years of good things and good times for us all. Truly a legacy that will not be equaled by many. Final arrangements are pending and will be forthcoming. Respectfully submitted, RK Sad

Thanks for the notification, Rick..haven't heard from you in awhile and hope you're doing ok. Condolences to you and your family. Sad news but yes, Fran and Jeff are finally back together again. I took an instructional week with Jeff back in the 1980's and both he and Fran could not have been nicer and treated me like family...I will always remember that. May they both rest in peace.

Oh my! Sincerest condolences to you Rick and the rest of the family. Yes, I'm one among many who spent time at Jeff and Fran's school. It was definitely a family venture and her role was just as vital as Jeff's.

They showed much love and devotion with their personal lives too.

Another chapter in the steel guitar book closed. Crying or Very sad

I'm so sorry to hear this. I've known Jeff and Fran since the middle 70's. She was a lovely woman to know. Even if we hadn't seen each other in a long time, when we would meet, it was as if it was just yesterday. My condolences to her family.
May she Rest In Peace. We'll miss her.
