The first link is to a very timely selection (although 32 years old) recorded on a rooftop overlooking Wrigley Field. The Cubs banned Goodman from performing this song at Wrigley Field. Instead they later adopted their current theme song "Go Gubs Go" (written just before his death in 1984.) The second link is a story by "The Today Show's" Mike Leonard about Steve and both songs.

For my money, Steve Goodman is the greatest entertainer who ever lived. The straightforward delivery here in this video belies his live gigs (equal parts guitar pull and Marx Brothers histrionics). He sublimated his own musical ambitions to launch the career of John Prine by insisting that Kris Kristofferson and Paul Anka give him an after-hours listen at a Chicago club.
