Ever try this version of Em7 (G6):

1 E
2 D
3 B
4 G
5 E
6 B

I've used it for years on my dobro to play single string based blues. The D and E strings let me simulate "triplet lead guitar" licks and it also has some tasty open string hammer-ons.

After looking at b0b's Sacred Steel post (pedal steel section) I was surprised to see it as part of that tuning with one pedal engaged.

I use G6 on my acoustic 8 and the front neck of my D8 - I tune GBdegbd'e', and sometimes drop the low string to E. I really like those top two strings, too. Unison bends
until everybody but me is tired of them.

I had it on a 6-stringer with d instead of B as the low string; if I used your tuning, I think I'd always be changing the 5th string.
