I'm trying to hang in there learning C6 but I'm starting to get my legs all tangled up using pedal 7 & 8.

What is the best technique on footwork? Left foot for 5 & 6 and right foot for 7 & 8? I have the habit of keeping my right foot on the volume pedal but it seems there are times when the right foot needs to be stomping pedals. Any advice?

Thanks,

Terry

Terry, try to use your left foot as much as possible
be it on 5&6/6&7/or 7&8
i use both feet for 5&7 cause i have'nt figured out any other way aside a knee lever replacement for p7
i do cheat tho' & use my right foot a bunch of times when i should be usin' my left footsie
C6 is a blast !

Thanks, Crowbear. I'm getting the left foot down pretty good and now I'm running into a situation where I need to rock off 7 while holding 8. My left ankle won't bend that way!! You are right about C6 - it is a blast. I'm using the BE basic C6 course at the moment. I guess I'll just have to use my right foot occasionally and not worry about the volume pedal.

For rolling off the 7, from 7&8 combined, you could try adjusting the height of P8 so it's a bit further off the ground. Might make it possible to get it more comfortable. You wouldn't have to roll your ankle as far to the right in that case. Just a thought...

FWIW, I don't ever take my right foot off the volume pedal; though plenty of folks do and have a good time with it, I just can't get comfortable with it, and tend to kick the volume pedal too loud or too soft when I try it.

You talk about foot work! Years ago, I went to hear Ernest Tubb and the Texas Droopy Drawers. Buddy Charlton was his steel player and I have never seen anyone dance on those C6th pedals with both feet like that guy! Especially when he was doing twin guitar work with the lead guitar player.
