Hi folks, here's an impression (720p HD) from a gig I did with the band Hillsome South in Hilversum, The Netherlands 3 days ago. The sound is from the videocamera but I hope you'll like it!

Thank you, James! That night I played on a ZumSteel (first Stage One version) through an ancient Boss SE70 (used as a tuner with a tiny bit of EQ )into a Roland Cube 80XL.
@Josephus, thanks! The next gig with this band will be on December 11, at the Dutch Country Music Association Award Gala in Leerdam, The Netherlands. |

Nice playing there mate. Years ago my band and I did a T.V. show in Hilversum I think it was "Tross TV".... I love playing in Holland, and the Dutch people. Those 80XL's are amazing amps aren't they...I have two but never use both...just speaker out to a black Widow "15" if needed

Thank you, Micky! It was my 3rd gig with this band (and the guitar player's 1st) so I still had to look at some charts, hahah!
The Dutch Broadcasting organization "TROS" has done a lot for country music well over the last 4 decades. Do you remember the name of the show and who did you play with? Let me know if you'll play in The Netherlands again and I will try to come and see/hear you.
Those 80XL's are indeed excellent amps for pedal steel guitar, especially in small clubs. (BTW, the amp wasn't mic'd, neither was there a line out used in this clip).
The reason I got the XL and not the newer version was because it does have an extra speaker out (and a looper, which is great for checking my sound at the FOH mixing console) but I haven't used it, yet.
I still have an old Peavey Nashville 400 and an Emmons Lashley LeGrande 600 amp at home but I hardly use those these days. I'm gonna look into the possibility to connect an extra 15" from either of those to the 80XL and see what happens!
Thanks, again and kind regards,
André Sommer. |
