I read something about this somewhere. Seems they were saying this Bias Head was made to look like a Kemper but is really in no way related as far as the profiling process goes. I'm sure diggin my Kemper though.

Wish I could afford one (Kemper). Hard for me to justify as a weekend warrior. I wish when they did demos they would do more clean profiles and lay off the heavy metal stuff.

I like the wifi idea. If you know the guitar player's password, you can turn his volume down from your phone.

Clean profiles are what I gravitate to. I really don't relate at all to what many call "tone". All those rasty profiles sound the same to me like someone jabbed the speaker a few times with a steak knife and kicked the pre-amp real hard. We used to call that a blown amp.

The Kemper will mirror any amp at any setting and then you can tweak from there. Lately I'm using a Vibrolux profile that's just clean, sweet, and tubey. Kind of cool though that you can push a button and play out of a Marshall or a Dumble. I prefer the rackmount version of the Kemper. There's really no advantage to the lunchbox version. The fx are pretty good for us reverb & mild delay guys. They are working on upgrading fx I hear. Upgrades are free and you download them into the unit. I haven't had enough time with this but am just fascinated. I bought a three space soft rack case for it and plug it into a flat response powered speaker (Yamaha DSR 112) and it can also go out to the pa. But that's it--Kemper in the soft case and the speaker. All fx are in there.

I've missed the boat somewhere. I've got several software programs, for my recording studio (VST's) that "model" various amplifiers, speakers, a POD X3 that has modeling and a Roland GX80 amp. I can't hear a "Blackface" or whatever when I select those models.

On some I can hear a slight difference between, for example, two amp models but I can't tell which is supposed to be what amp model.

I've sat down with our lead guitar player, who plays through a mid 60's Pro Reverb. We used his USA Strat with Blue Lace Sensors and tried various models and none comes close to his Pro Reverb.

Yeah Jack I've thought nothing beats the real thing. Kemper comes closest though I think. In it's soft case I can easily lift it with my thumb & index finger. I have read a few accounts of people selling off their boutique amps after they profile them with the Kemper because they can't hear any difference side by side. Anyway I'm enjoying it and so far wouldn't go back. I bought it used for about $1700. If I sell some stuff I won't even feel it. If you try one be aware that most people have to sit and tweak for quite a bit to get it dialed in. I'm still not really there and have a lot to learn about it. I haven't profiled any but just downloaded some excellent amps.

Also Jack, I downloaded your PODxt fx settings weeks ago and I'll play with looping them through the Kemper when I get time at home. I don't really use a lot of fx though so gigging that way would defeat the simplicity. Quite a while back I used the PODxt on a couple of gigs and liked it but it seemed a little cold or something.
Sorry if I've hijacked this thread and made it all about Kemper. I have heard some good things about that Bias Amp too. People should be aware though that modeling and profiling are entirely different processes.
