When I switch on my Twin Reverb I get a persistent sputtering, hissy noise. It's there even if I turn the volume down to zero on both channels and it doesn't go away after the amp warms up. All the tubes are newer and they all tested good on my tube tester. Aside from the sputter the amp works fine with good tone and output. Thoughts?

Leaky cap! Best to put it away till you get it fixed.

could also be a bad plate resistor

is it an original? Wired on to the paper eyelet board? They usually warp with moisture and tear the components apart. If you are not a tech, take it to one, and I am sure he can find and fix in 5 minutes. Fenders are very easy to fix

Thanks guys - was hoping it might be something I can fix. like checking a specific cap or resistor with a multi meter and replacing it. This amp started life as an off the shelf 65 Reissue but a friend completely rebuilt it point to point about 10 years ago. Guess I will have to pony up and take it in.
