There’s a steel guitar made near Nantucket
Its third string breaks when I pluck it
Frustration sets in
And I fear in a whim
I’ll take this guitar and just chuck it!

There was a great steeler named Buddy
Who's notes rang in tune, never muddy
When he changed to ET,
I said "That's not for me!"
But then I'm just an old Fuddy Duddy

I once took a new Universal
To a gig without any rehersal
When I went for the "D"
The band glared at me
Now my career is in a reversal

I sense a moderator's detection
honed in on our general direction
although it's about steel
we all know the deal
"topic transferred to the humor section"

Rick. You're simply hilarious ROTFL
This is one of the best I ever saw

Howards contribution isn't bad either. This tread will probably move soon.

Unlike the sound of a midi workstation
You’ll get cries of “what in tarnation!”
Although it takes skill
It helps if you will
Tune it to just-intonation

There was a young picker named Cullen
Who switched from an Emmons to Mullen
The crowd still adored him
But purists abhored him
And killed him by Pushen and Pullen

A young steeler I knew picked so neatly
Played "Way to Survive" oh so sweetly
He soon turned to jazz
C6 razz-a-ma-tazz
Now he's quit gigging completely

My wife didn’t think it was funny
When asked what I did with the money
I put on some picks
Played several hot licks
Now my biscuits are served without honey!

Playing Steel for us is enjoyment
For our families, it's mostly annoyment
One thing's for certain
You'll soon end up hurtin'
If you think it's for gainful employment

And….

He spends too much time on the Forum
But in doing learns tact and decorum
He should be out playing
At the computer he's staying
While his band is freaked out looking for him

Ok,Ok....before somebody starts yelling, I better stop.

Before things get too out of hand
I've spent way more time here than planned
I’m getting myopic
And drifting from topic
B0b, send this to good “Humor" land!

This is very funny
It's after Christmas
and I'm still out of money
bought a steel,profex,power amp,and cabinet.

My wife thought I gave up my drug habit !

Playing steel is my high
it helps me get by
but my wife wishes to Chain saw
and slab it.

Hey...Isa poet and don't know it

The Forum is filled with confusion
About tone and brands that they’re usin’
We can’t all agree
What makes sense to me
Is try several guitars before choosin’

"A young guitar player, Gambrell,
played with rhythm that all thought quite swell.
Not content on his heels,
He took up the steel,
And boy, did he lose all sense of rhythm, tone, timing, couldn't play in tune..."

There's an issue that's caused consternation
Among steelers from several nations
And some act like goons
Over how one should tune
"Equal Tempered?" or "Just Intonation?"

Tuning has never been painless
But E9 is leaving me brainless

There is no solution
I want resolution

I’m changing from nickel to stainless

If Steel Guitar Rag is the measure
Of a steeler’s ability to pleasure
You can take your picks
Of my SGR licks
One man’s junk is another man’s treasure !

A country guitarist named Jack
Was your typical 1-4-5 hack
Till he found the diminished
Now his gigs are all finished
Cuz no one will hire him back.

Jim...I once had a band leader kick off a tune in his real Old Roadhog growl, "ok boys, kickeroff, fifty five eleven, two up...play a diminished and your finished!"

I'm impressed that he knew enough to say "5511" and "2up"!
