Topic: Nashville 112 speaker ?? |

I own two Nashville 112 amps, I think I have
an older one and a newer one, because one
has the Blue marvel sticker on the back of
the speaker and one has not. My question is,
that the speaker without the sticker has a far
bigger magnet on the back of it than the one
with ? They are totally different size wise.
They are both original speakers. Can someone
tell me why they are different and if they are
still blue marvel? The difference was only meant
to be the sticker I have heard, but that's not the case ?? |

Hopefully, he can answer the question on Monday.
He might want the serial numbers of both amps in order to look up this information.

Okay well we will try this question, I thought that the specifications
on the Nashville 112 say that the speaker is 4 ohms so I thought to myself you cannot run an extension cab from 4 ohms. But both Nashville112 amps i have ,
have 8 ohm speakers in them?? So does this mean you can run an extension can off them ? |

Don't know if this adds to the confusion or clears things up, but I've taken this original speaker (a little dusty) out of my N112. It had no Blue Marvel sticker on it. I've taken this photo of the label on the side. That states: 4 ohm, manufactured by Emminence.

Not all Blue Marvel speakers had a brand label. If they have a white sticker like John's , they should show a model #30777234. Mike Brown can verify the correct part number. The other numbers you posted are just production numbers I believe.
I don't know what you have, but I believe 4Ω speakers were installed in the NV112. Best to measure them with a DVOM. You state they are the original speakers but if they are 8Ω speakers, they must have been swapped out somewhere sometime. If they are indeed 8Ω speakers, yes you can run an extension speaker off of them.
The NV112 is designed for a 4 ohm load which you will have if you daisy chain an extension speaker from your amp provide both speakers in the chain are 8 ohm.
I don't know if any models designed for export would have had any modifications or not. Where did you acquire your NV112's ?

Hi Jerry, I bought the amps from two different
steelers here in Australia. There must be something different
with the export model like you said because mine both
say 8 ohm on that white sticker that yours says 4 |

I just had another look and the speaker like Jerrys with no
Sticker and the bigger magnet is actually 4 ohm number 30777234. My mistake!!
But the other with the sticker is 8 ohm and number 30777104

Hi Paul,I also have a NV 112 purchased new about 4 years ago.
It has the same numbers as Jerry's and is 4 Ohms.

Paul, from all that's been said, I think someone wanted to get a better guitar tone out of the NV112 with the blue-labeled speaker. Those 8-ohm Blue Marvels' were used in the Peavey guitar amps...not the steel amps.
I would guess it sounds OK with a steel, but I would rather have the original model speaker in there. But that's just me.

| Well I have done some research and found out what the deal is with the 8 ohm blue marvel speaker in my Nashville 112. I was finally able to get onto the guy I purchased the amp from . He tells me that yes he did buy the AMP brand-new but when it was 12 months old the speaker give up the ghost and he had a new replacement speaker put in under warranty by Peavey dealer here in Australia. And it was replaced with the wrong speaker !! Firstly it would've been nice to know obout this before I purchased the amp. I have tried to contact a few Peavey representatives about the situation but no one is interested in replying to me . So I just thought that I would post this on the forum to explain to the people that had replied to my post and explain why this speaker is in my amp ! I just think personally that is wrong in putting the incorrect replacement speaker into an amp by a peavey dealer whilst under warranty. |

Roger, from what I find online, your speaker is an 8 ohm Blue Marvel made by Eminence, but it was OEM in the Peavey Studio Pro 112 Guitar amp, not the Nashville 112.
BTW, the photo of the 30777234 is John Palumbo's, not mine. I don't own a NV112 or any Blue Marvel speakers.
One has to be careful with authorized dealers' replacement parts too. It's not unusual when dealing with steel guitar amps or enclosures for them to stick a guitar speaker or whatever they have handy in there because they don't normally keep steel guitar speakers in stock. They are also sometimes not very knowledgeable concerning steel guitar gear electronics either.
Of course when you're on the other side of the globe, your sources are limited too.
I've had this happen to me, and had to take them back and insist on the correct basket/speaker.
It's always best to consult Mike Brown's advice whether you think you need a replacement speaker or amp repair for you steel guitar amp. The Peavey factory is always the best bet, where practical, even if you have freight costs or pay a little more more a part. |

| Since the beginning, the Nashville 112 has used the same speaker. Can't answer why the magnet is larger on one or the other. But, the speaker that we chose in the beginning should be the identical speaker. |

| I'd embrace the 8 ohm speaker, buy another one and put it in a small lightweight cabinet. I bet the N-112 would sound great pushing 2 - 12" speakers at 4 ohms! |
