Is everyone still using a Delay?

I have been thinking about a new delay lately, and was curious how many are still using one? I was going to get a Carbon Copy what's your thoughts.

I have been using the recently (re)introduced Boss 'Wazacraft' DM2 reissue delay and so far am very pleased with the results. Far superior to the DD3 IMO.

Guess you would have to count me as not using one. Never thought it was something that was needed so have not owned one. Rather strange as I have owned most effects toys at one time or another.

Yes, wouldn't be without one. I'm still using one of the old AD80 Ibanez analog delay pedals for both steel and guitars. I keep patching it up and modifying 18v power supplies to keep it running.

Some like the Boss digital delays like the DD3 or the combo delay/reverb pedals like the RV3. Never used the Carbon Copy, but hear good things about it. I believe it is also an analog pedal.

For me, it's the old 70's, 80's analog stuff like the AD80, Boss DM-2 or the re-issue Maxon 999 delays. More pricey, but worth it in my view.

I must be nobody. That standard one repeat at somewhere around 200ms that so many people like is not a good thing. I've tried to like it. Repeatedly. I put my reverb of 2 or 3, and the delay on Craigslist.
Perhaps there are artistic settings and uses for it, but it rarely gets set and used that way.
Even in Bobbe's youtube video calling it the most important effect, when I hear it, every single time I think "for the love of God, why? Isn't there enough ugly in the world?"
When I've played gigs where the house sound man "gives" me such a treatment, I spend most of the night with my hands in my lap, changing my rÃ´le to harmony singer.

The preceding carries these qualifications: I know I'm a goofball, and these are the opinions and artistic judgments of an admitted and confessednfessed goofballfball.

Wampler Faux Analog Delay into my NV112 with the Mod reverb tank. Sounds great.
With my Stereo Steel I use the TC M one XL. Delay and Reverb.

I use delay quite a bit. I love my carbon copy but finally found a great analog delay with a tap tempo that I like. It's a bellwether delay by walrus audio.

You can't go wrong with a carbon copy though. Buy one used and see if it works for you. If you don't like it they sell super fast.

I have a couple of delay pedals, but rarely use them. I also have delay in my main amp, but only use it for exaggerated slap-back sounds on one or two special songs.

I don't use any delay at all. The reverb tank in the old SF twin reverb is enough. Such an awesome sound IMHO.

I'd love to hear the effects haters' clips of anything near this sweet. Anything can be made to sound bad if you try hard enough.

Carbon copy for me. Just a little. Some rooms are just really dry . Like Bob said , if you don't like it , they sell easily, because they're so good.

What sounds good in a bedroom or studio, with a low ceiling and carpet and curtains to deaden the sound, often does not sound so good in a large dance hall with all hard surfaces and a high ceiling to bounce the sound around. Also, I find that on most of the medium to bigger jobs your amp is going to be mic'd, and then you hear a fair amount of delay from the steel coming through the mains and monitors and bouncing back. I don't really know what the audience hears, but I find the spring reverb in my Milkman or Twin, or a Wet Reverb pedal with another rig, is all I need to sound good on stage. Do I sound like Buddy Emmons or Paul Franklin? Of course not.

PS: I do use an organ pedal with a compressor, and an overdrive pedal for certain songs, so I am not an "effects hater."

I've stopped using my effects processor, which is a PRO FEX, but not for the same reasons as everyone else. I just don't want to carry any more gear !

On the gigs it's just amp reverb,but when I track, yes, I use delay.

I set my Boss VF1 to about 420 with 1 slap back at about 15%, it gives my sound the illusion of wetness, thus I can cut back on the amount of reverb and still not appear to be dry.

I used one for many years. For the last year,I used only reverb and didn't miss the delay at all. I just recently started using it again and I guess I can say that it really doesn't matter one way or the other because I usually set it to the point that you can just barely hear it.
