A friend asked me to take my pedal steel to his internet radio show Country Hayride for a steel guitar special. In between the music I wanted to do a history of how the pedals, E9th tuning and key licks came together on some hit songs, and also make it a tribute to Bud Isaacs. So here you go, it's rough and ready, first time I ever did something like this, I hope you enjoy it. Let me know what you think and what I missed out - there may be a part two - e.g. I didn't have time to touch on Mooney or anything more modern than 1968!

Very Happy

Much fun to listen to. Thank you Jonathan!
Bob Dylan did also a nice version of the Davis Sisters song on "Self Portait" and I bought "Sweetheart" at a London record store in 1968.

Thanks Joachim! I Forgot More Than You'll Ever Know is an unforgettable song and a big influence on everyone (not least the Everly Brothers). I tried to get some confirmation directly from Bud on Skeeter Davis' story but by the time I emailed him he had already gone. As I commented in the broadcast I think there is some truth to it.
