Since I've never done this before,I'm looking for ideas on what type of pickup to install in my PRP Mullen SD10. Which type or Brand is easy to install without altering anything ? _________________ S10 GFI ULTRA,Peavey Powerslide,Quilter Steelaire amp,Nashville 400 amp. |

I believe they'll take most narrow mount pickups.
Are you dissatisfied with the stock single coil?
I'd recommend either the Bill Lawrence 705 or the Tonealigner if you're after a humbucker.
If you're after a single coil, you're probably not going to be happy with a swap, as the Mullen stock sounds really good. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Hey Lane,on another topic I had the humming problem. After going through everything I feel my only option is to swap out the pickup. Maybe a new one from Mullen of the same type ? While soundchecking wit the Band this past weekend I realized the hum is pretty nasty. _________________ S10 GFI ULTRA,Peavey Powerslide,Quilter Steelaire amp,Nashville 400 amp. |

As a lover of the single coil sound, I'd probably go for a 705, so you can put in a switch to short one coil to ground when you don't have a hum.
Have you ruled out everything else? As in have you tried plugging something like a Les Paul in at the head of your chain (as in with EVERYTHING downstream of the steel in the chain, just swap out the Mullen for the Paul)? If the Paul is quiet, then the guitar is the problem. The problem is usually (but not always) something else. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
