Oh hey Ted I got that e-mail and I wrote you back asking what file you sent me to download.....I never download a attachment unless I know exactly what it is. So just opening the e-mail is not going to hurt anybody.....but absolutly don't download any files or attachments if you don't know what it is.......this one said something like.."I'm sending you this cause I need your advice"....
So again folks DO NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS....if ya don't know what it is or what someone is sending you.

That HA HA HA SNOW WHITE & THE SEVEN DWARFS vius was back to greet me this morning.

It's been gone for 2 or 3 months but guess the "idiot" is getting "bored" again. I'm sure thankful for the protection I have to "detect & delete" all that crap without any damage.

Still in trouble on this virus, it's going through all my files and mailing to them. I don't keep an address book for this reason.

I do have Norton and it didn't stop it.

I have one email back that this attachment has been used by the recent 'SirCam' virus.

Again-contact me by phone right now - not email.

I have McAffee and after I read about that virus I updated my DAT's but they didnt have that particular problem updated yet so I checked the first message I got from you with my scan and it didnt catch it but I had tranferred it to an A disc. Later I checked here and saw your post that you had it and I updated my dats again and looked on my A disc and it found the Sircam virus. Fortunatley it didnt make it onto my hard drive or into memory.
I got another one from you today , same thing.
When I caught the Sircam with my virus detector it said it could not clean the file and it had to be deleted. I can see if it gets on your hard drive into your files it could be a disaster to get rid of.
I hope you can figure it out without much loss.
The first one almost got me as it was asking for advice on an electronic problem and we have talked in the past so my gaurd was down. The next time it wasnt as specific what it was asking for. I do alot of custom pickup jobs off of emailed files!
I had one once called a stealth boot virus that snuck by a virus scan that didnt have updated DAT's and caused several thousand dollars of lost time on a laser cutter. At the time I didnt have a virus scan but got one right away.
It still gets "honorable" mention in certain circles!

Ted's computer infected my computer and also Maurie Junod's. My computer is clean now and I have the new update for e-Trust to take care of any future attacks by this or any other new virus that has been detected.

Ted's computer needs to be taken offline and cleaned because the SirCam virus is self-propagating (it has its own e-mail functionality). And, irregardless of the fact that he has an ADDRESS BOOK or NOT, the virus will look at the messages in his CACHED In, Out, or Trash files and use the addresses in those CACHED files to propagate new messages to those senders...

See http://www.mcafee.com/anti-virus/viruses/sircam/default.asp?cid=2360

or

for more information..

I have Nortons and it isn't stopping it.

I took the CPU in and had it worked on (3 viruses on it!) Plugged back in and had emails coming in with the virus so...don't open any emails from me, still, with attachments or "want advice" on them!

I get so much mail from people I don't know that I seem to get hit with everything out there.
