Wondering if it's possible to do a decent "Boot Heel Drag" on the E9, even? Any one have a tab?

Thanks!

Apparently the song was originally played in C#minor tuning. So you might be able to play it non-pedal style with pedals down on E9th. The following link discusses it:

http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=870749&sid=ecf36a1924ae452af201a4a9f1fff62b

Doyle Huff said the following in an old post:

"I talked to Herb Remmington about this song and he said he did it on a C#minor tuning. It can be done on E9th using the A pedal to get the C# note. With the A pedal down, tune the B (10th) string to a low E to get the bo-wa. He also did it in A. This way of playing it gets close to the orginal sound."

Forum member Billchav (Bill Chaviers), who posted in the first thread above, has it in a non-pedal tab and may even have it in E9th. His web site is here: http://www.billchaviers.com/
and you can probably email or pm him on the forum.

Jack Stepick has it in the Key of A along with Panhandle Rag, and Roadside rag, for $12. See here:

Since he is a member you can email him or pm him from that link.

There was a E9th TAB for Boot Heel Drag in the key of A. But it's an octave higher than it is normally played,12th fret AB pedals down. The low string slide into A,G# to A on C6th, is below 10 string E9th range, other than that its playable on E9th at the 5th fret. The TAB looks like it's from the Rebel site.

"Never mind." E. Latella

Laughing

That's what I get for posting before I have my coffee. Actually I just saw that it was Ricky Davis and I know he put a lot of tabs on the rebel site so I just "knee-jerk" assumed it was the one and didn't read it through. Ha. Yep I like using P6 on E9th...yep...sure...

Anyway if I do see an E9 version I will let you know. I think the one that Bill Chaviers has is free; his web site seems to imply that. You might want to contact him.

I just saw this thread; Dave/Doyle, where did the years go?
It has been over 60 years since I had the pleasure of learning those tunes from the horses mouth. Due to some health problems I haven't been able to talk to Herb in a few years, but still enjoy his playing more than ever. Thanks to Herb I got to meet most of the TEXAS PLAYBOYS He played with during the middle/late 40's in California before he moved to Houston. You never knew who would show up at the studio or his home.
