On the C6 neck my F or 9th string doesn't come back to pitch correctly when I press pedal 5, it stays sharp. But when I press pedal 8 it makes it come back to correct pitch. Anyone have a suggestion or remedy for this. Only string I have a problem with on this steel. Thanks

WEll I can think of several things to start with.
Firstly; maybe the brass roller/nut for that string is binding>Loosen string and pull up the string off the roller and make sure it's rolling freely.
Also the rod might be binding on any of the rack holes it runs through> so loosen the barrel tuner and push the rod back and forth and see if it is moving through all the holes smoothly. Of course that string is raising a half tone when pedal 5 is pushed; but also the 5th string lower a half tone and 10th string raise a whole tone; so if any of those other two changes are not starting with the fingers in the un-pulled position(meaning the metal tuner is not already pulling the finger); that could cause that 9th string change to react that way as it takes less throw on the pedal for the 9th string as it takes more for the other two.
To check that; play the 5th string open then without pushing the pedal; loosen the barrel(counter clockwise detuning the metal tuner) and if the open note moves; than you need more distance on the pedal stop and that goes for the 10th string also.
Also the metal tuner at the end of the rod at the endplate could be loose or the barrel tuner may be all the way compressed or loose; and either one of those can do it. Also if the lower spring is not tight enough; that will let the raise section act sluggish(acutally do that first>tighten the lower spring a couple turns).
Ok chew on them and see what you come up with. If none of them work; I have about 10 more possibilities.

Sorry Donald; in reading my post above, I kinda went off on alot of possibilities of things that can go wrong..ha.
So basically the raise section of that finger is not re-acting for several reasons; so just start with tightening the lower section spring on the screw at the end plate first and see if that does it. Next; remove the little raise spring off the bracket that is mounted on the bottom of the guitar.
And if those two things don't work; then seek out my other info above.
