| Has anyone used an Avid Eleven Rack with Steel Guitar and if so what settings should you use? |

| I use the Black Duo amp, Black Spring reverb, BBD Delay, with an eq on FX1. Its worth spending the time to learn the ins and outs, as it's a very versatile unit. |

I have one & love it. I use the black duo (Twin) and Bassman sims, mostly through a 15" speaker sim. I prefer the tape delay. There are some great reverb choices in there too. Great for recording or as a preamp/effect unit in front of an amp - you can program it to bypass the speaker sim when using it that way. The distortion options are useable too. I had one, it came with my Pro Tools 12 bundle, I liked it enough but never really found a use for it among all the other gadgets I have , so I sold it. It was a nice unit for sure, very flexible.
At the end of the day though I paid $550 for Pro Tools 12, perpetual license ( Sweetwater) which came with the Eleven Rack, I sold the Eleven rack for $250 so my total cost for the full Perp License PT12 was $250 !

I have a Roland GP-100 that was discontinued in 1995 and I feel comfortable making adjustments and tweaking programs As I have had it so long. Would like to try the 11 rack but fear the learning curve may take me another 20 years....lol |

Len, at first the layout seems odd and quirky, the manual , like all manuals, is written with the writers perspective in mind, but once you see what each of those little buttons actually represent, it's a piece of cake to edit and save patches. I think there may be a few YouTube'rs showing the procedure. 10 or 15 minutes of hard knocks and you will be all set.

If you use Pro Tools to record, the Eleven is a no-brainer, IMHO - it makes the whole process very easy, and re-amping is a breeze. If you need to come back days, weeks, or months later and punch in a section, you can get the exact tone back easily. Also within Pro Tools is a window which lets you change sounds & parameters graphically rather than going through menus on the device itself, which is much easier. Plus the amp models and effects sound very good! And when you're done recording, take it to the gig and use it as a front end/FX unit for your amp, with a speaker simulated XLR out to the house. Cool.
