I have just purchased a Mesa Boogie Mark 2B amp. It hasn't arrived yet, but I am wondering if the cabinet is big enough for a 15" speaker.
Thanks in advance. |

walter: i have one. i measured across the front and it is 18" so it would be a very tight fit, if in fact it would fit a 15".

I have a Boogie IIB in a 1-12 cabinet and a 1-15 model. The 1-15 model has a slightly larger cabinet.
Hope you can fit your speaker.
To me the IIB is the best amp they made.
I have a Mark III red stripe and a Mark I reissue also, but prefer the IIB. My back hates them all though.

I have to wait and see until the amp arrives. I assume the baffle is screwed in, so at least replacing it shouldn't be a problem. |

Do any of you use the lead drive settings with a six string and what do you think of it? |

i'm not a fan of the lead drive in my IIB. it was the IIC+ that is famous for its lead drive and subsequently goes for much more $$$. i am a fan of a pedal in front of the clean channel though.
i do use it for 6 string mostly to answer tom's question.
out of curiosity, do you have the black widow or celestion speaker? mine came with the celestion and i have tried the black widow, but, prefer the celestion.

The Boogie combo cabs are just big enough to get a a speaker in for the 12 or 15 inch model. Boogies have a unique sound but sinse the size of the cab contributes to the vibe (talking steel guitar here) I prefer the Boogie head and seperate cab. YMMV |

I used to play a 60 watt Mark IIB with an EVM-12 speaker. The lead drive channel was the best I've ever heard for steel, hands down. Heavy, though. It was a beautiful sounding amp. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

I went though my IIB 1-12 amp and replaced all the preamp tubes. The lead drive now is excellent.
I don't use drive with PSG, but for lap or six string it is terrific. Mine has the EVM 12L speaker.

I have heard demos of the 2B with just s slight bit of gain on the lead channel and I really love the tone. .. I think a 2B might be my next amp.
Anyone think a Graphic EQ is necessary with this amp? Or are both Channels great without using it?

The EQ is a passive inductance circuit. It's really nice, but I never had one or felt the need for it. The regular tone controls were enough for me. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

I have the EQ on my 1-12. I have played around with it a little bit, but don't really use it. Kind of like the 100 watt mode; I use the 60 watt mode almost all the time.
My 1-15 model does not have the EQ and I do not miss it. It has the Altec speaker and is great for PSG. It is a back breaker to carry around though, so it is seldom used.
