It ran good for 2 hours at sound check. Left it on and after the introduction for the band to an audience of over 300 I got no sound. the amp was cycling off and on quickly. One month over the warranty. What does this sound like.

Might have been a low AC power issue.
Have you plugged it in since?

The amp is probably thermal prtected, a heat sensitve breaker that will usually reset when the amp cools. A low voltage condition will cause the amp to draw more current, generating more heat, and might explain the cycling on and off. Also, make sure the amp has good air flow. If it has a fan, make sure it isn't blocked in some way.

I've left mine on for up to 6 hours with no problems, however, I was inside in A/C. If it was an outside job, here in Florida, it could very well be a thermal condition.
Mine is in a 2 space Carvin rack case with the front and back open. I set it on top of my 15" speaker cabinet. Gets good air flow through and around it. |

| It was not in a rack, just sitting on top of the speaker cabinet. It was not really that hot outside because it had rained. The amp is still doing the same thing. I read on the internet that these amps have had problems with low voltage situations |

Warranty repair. If it exhibits the same actions at home it's probably not a "low voltage" situation.

| David, Please let us know how you sorted out this problem. I've played quite a few outside gigs this summer with my BX500 with no issues other than a low voltage problem due to a generator, which got solved relatively fast. |

I sent the unit back to Carvin and I think they are letting it be under warranty even though it is one month over. I will let y'all know when I find out what was wrong. I had used the amp for probably 8 outdoor gigs last year.

Calvin honored the warranty on the BX 500 even though it was one month over the year warranty. They replaced blown outputs and DIRVER IC.

I played an outside gig at LSU once. I was using a Nashville 400, and mine cut out off me, like that. I got home about after playing, plugged it in the wall and turned it on. And it powered up and played right and played. It gets awfully hot down in Louisiana.
It is aggravating, right in the middle of a gig to have that happen, and then you get home about four or five hours later, and you plug in the wall and, all starts up working again. Like it never did happen.
