Wally
Didn't Jimmy Crawford make Buddy a
D10/12 guitar?
Ten strings on E9th and twelve strings on C6th?

This was originally uploaded by Jeff DeMaio from the PSGA. He played it at the PSGA's last fall as part of the tribute to Buddy. Jeff's dad always had a dream of recording with the A team, and they made it happen for him. There was also footage of Buddy at a PSGA concert the year the Christmas ]album came out. I've seen it on youtube. Kind of hard to find, but worth digging for. |

Great stuff. Buddy was like he was from another planet. The short time on earth (we're all here in a blink of an eye) he pushed the steel further, ideas on both E9th and C6th. Tone, theory, out of box thinking. Gadgets that he tried first before we tried them. Made us feel as though he was part of our family. Cheered during life and missed during death. I thought he would live forever.
I have some stories of his life in retirement, but to sad to say. |

I could see the JCH logo in the video and according to the info on the Buddy Emmmons website it was most likely this guitar :
AT THE PARTY UNVEILING
BUDDY'S JCH!
THE FRONT NECK IS A 10 STRING E9 and THE BACK NECK IS A 12 STRING EXTENDED C6.
THERE'S 9 FLOOR PEDALS & 10 KNEE LEVERS

I had not appreciated just how much the subtle variations in bar technique contributed to Buddy's sound before watching that video- thanks Wally. |

Thank you for sharing this. Great video!
Check out the close-up at 2:40 and again at 4:15 to the end. It looks like he isn't using fingerpicks, maybe just a thumbpick and fingernails? |
