Jason, I have had success in the past making these with a short length of 1/8" steel brake line and a pair of 6-32 taps, one Right Hand and one Left Hand.
Here is a photo:

The completed piece is shown on the left. All the necessary supplies and tools are on the right.
If you are at all handy, or have a friend who is, making one is not too hard.
The blue stuff is merely heat-shrink tubing to mark one end and make it a little easier to grip.
If you can not source a LH tap locally, McMaster-Carr and other online vendors have them.

I have several extra for a Fender 1000 I've had for years, just in case. Gotta bunch of Fender parts from Bill Brown in Canadian, Oklahoma several years ago.If'n your interested, you can come and pick them up here, only $150 each. Jay Y.

If you google aircraft cable turnbuckles you can find these parts off the shelf. Granted, they will not look like the originals, but they will be better quality.
