The steel guitar industry (such as it were) is known for companies (made up of individuals we often end up having a personal relationship with) that have excellent customer service, and many will go the extra mile to make sure you are satisfied with their products.
However . . . I have never in my life encountered a company more willing to go that extra mile than Telonics, both in their research and customer service (this is not a Telonics ad, I like everyone). While I was on tour this last January, the cable to my volume pedal gave out on me. In desperation, I called the Telonics phone number and talked to Sophie Russo who transferred me to her dad (I didn't know it was Dave Beatty). That same day a replacement cable was on its way to my next destination. That small, but very big, act saved my tour. It also reminded me of how lucky I was to be playing one of their pedals.
Last year when I was in New Zealand, Paddy Long loaned me his Telonics amp. I was amazed at how many little features were on the amp that were specifically tailored for pedal steel guitarists and how little trouble I had dialing in a nice sound at various venues. Perhaps now I need to save for a new amp . . . _________________ www.susanalcorn.net
