I have a recent '65 Twin Custom 15,bought so I could have a 2 channel amp for six-string and steel.I'm very happy with it,but it's a behemoth to carry around. So after reading the other thread about 2-12 Twins,I'm wondering how much weight I can save with swapping out the stock speaker for one of the lightweight "neo" speakers I keep hearing about, and how that's likely to change the sound. |

You'll save around 8 pounds. If you really want to shed weight, switch to a pine cabinet, or split pine cabs.
Or if you have ample bucks, I bet Tim would make you a two-channel Half and Half. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects |

I had Rick Johnson make a cab for the power, twice as much to carry but weight split in half.

The Eminence Commonwealth 15 weighs 23 lbs. I think the neo 15s run about 8 or 9 lbs so you save 15 lbs. This is enough to bring the Custom Twin to sub hernia levels. I've been tempted to go to an Eminence or Telonics 15 in my Twin but I can't bear to give up my Altec 418B. |

Wow, that's a big drop in weight. If the cost were half, I'd be very tempted by some 12" neo's. |
