It is a reverse Pedal 6.
I just added the change on RKR 2 after trying it on a Fessendedn at ISGC. |

I often use it to get a major chord (F on the open strings) in the low register. The C6 isn't just for jazz, you know!
Also, you have the full step moving tone effect if you release it as you press P6, or vice versa. |

If you can do your LKV and LKR at the same time, you get a nice Dom7 sus 4 chord too, |

Another way to see that pedal melodically is similar to pedal 6, but with a different melody note on top of each chord inversion. Doug Jernigan and John Hughey use it a LOT and very effectively. Check out the chord melody head to John's "home in San Antone", for a great example.
