Hey All,
I hope this all makes sense, here goes... I've been a Big fan of Greg Leisz for years now and i've even started playing live shows that Greg did the steel or guitar for on the albums (Billy Bragg and Joel Rafael mainly)
Apart from his playing, im quite fascinated with how his guitar is set up as he seems to play so many of them! I actually heard he has a few dotted around the USA to make traveling easier.
My Question is does anybody know what Greg's Knee Lever set up might be? I know he plays Williams U-12s and i've seen him play 10 strings in the past but, I'm just thinking which leg his E Lowers & raises might be on?
Check out this video at 19:40 he's really playing a lot of c6th stuff on his Williams but, i can't see him holding over and E Levers as i do on my Excel U-12. Unless hes not moving the lever until he needs it to be lowered... from what i can see. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMSVYi4FD5o
The main reason I'm asking is i'm starting to think i should have my Excel Superb and Sho~Bud converted to E levers on the right leg so, i can borrow steels in the USA when im there and mainly because, i feel it messes with my Volume pedal when i use the E's... not really a fan of heavy volume pedals and it does feel more natural to me to have the levers Es on the right leg as i did when i started years ago.
I went to see BJ Cole at his home and he has the levers this way around too and says you can reach the 4567 & 8 pedals with the E lower over even if its on the right knee... i understand universals were designed with the E's on the left leg because it was felt this wouldn't work...?
What do you all think?

According to the Williams website, Greg plays Extended E9 rather than U12, and BJ Cole does indeed play a U12. Two of my (many) heroes! _________________ My site |

I've wondered this for a while. From what little I've gathered its extended E9 with some 5 lever cluster on the left side. |

I've never seen a post by Greg on this site, and haven't checked to see if he is even a member. However, the person who seems to be an ambassador for him on this forum is Jim Palenscar. You could try contacting him.
I would never make an assumption that a player wants their copeds revealed. Everyone is different about that.
