Topic: DOBRO model 560M value |

All,
I believe we have identified this as a Mahogony 560M Dobro from the early 80's. Does anyone have an estimate of what it is worth. Where I am try to make a trade they said they would sell it for 1200-1500.
Of course they are offering me less for a trade in value. I will appreciate any help.

| I suppose someone well versed in reso history might be able to identify it by the lyre fretboard inlay, but most of us would need to at least see the peghead. Are there any numbers, labels or markings on that end that would help? Or is this the only photo you have? |

I will add some photo's ASAP.
The head is solid with DOBRO in a pearl block.
The tuners are covered and gold plated. The body has binding front and rear, and the sides and rear are the same wood as in front. The serial number is 8 1107 3 and small character I cannot make out.

Mahogany? Without better pics I'd say it was an S60M from 1983.

| Sounds right on the year. I thought the 60M series had a slotted head though. The digit you can't make out is probably a letter. Maybe that will help. |

| I always hesitate to assign value. In general terms I think that $1,200 is on the high side of reasonable in the contemporary dobro market. |

$1200-1500 was the figure given to me by Elderly Instruments with whom I was going to trade as for what they would sell it for.
They would of course give me less than that.
I thought it seemed a little high, but was not going to argue.
