Yes, this is a bummer. The steel was never mentioned but Bobby Ingano played with Taj Mahal and he was on stage for the award. So,- at least maybe we can claim a sliver of recognition for Bobby and his steel. I sure hope someone wakes up one of these days. I claim that there are categories that have nothing to do with Hawaiian music, culture, history or anything else concerning Hawaii.

Yes, bummer I agree. I was aware of Bobby Ingano's association with Taj Mahal (and recently featured a track with him on my radio show). It is a pity that inspite of the hard work that Alan, Bobby, Casey, Greg, Jeff, Ken, and others are doing in Hawaii to promote the steel guitar that the prestigious Na Hoku falls way behind on the steel guitar which was invented in Hawaii.
