Thanks Andy, do you know if he plays a double neck or retunes a single? The few photos I've seen he's playing a single.

I've sat down with his version of Yellow Bird from "Made in Hawaii, the Hawaiian Steel Guitar" and practically all of that really lays out well on the the standard Dobro GBDGBD (low to high) tuning, though in the last section of the tune where he stretches out, I detect some 6th stuff. But if that's the tune you are trying to play, try that G major tuning.

From the same album, the song Hawaii O'Pono works with low bass G (DGDGBD).
