Early 80's , with individule supports for each string, original 80's Lawrence pickups, std Emmons setup. Black mica! If you are familiar with Emmons SKH guitars, you know what a tonal monster this guitar is! Nice original condition! Completely gone over and adjusted. $3750.00 plus Actual shipping.

Yes, these are tone monsters and play easy. This is a twin to mine and I wish I had the money to spare, I'd have two just alike. This is most likely an 82 model and hasn't been played much. Good luck with the sale, someone is getting a great guitar.

I like the feature of support between each string, that maybe helps contribute to the tone. Very Happy

I think you are correct Erv, plus the fact of the short key head which also my contribute to tone. The rest of the guitar is typically Emmons Legrand. The differences being the shorter key head, changer and guitar body being shorter. Evry one of these I've played have that growl to them that reminds me of a push pull.

I believe that Buddy Emmons once commented that after the SKH model, the LaGrands just didn't sound as good.

I have to admit, though, that in general I don't care for short key head guitars. I like to have a little more room when cranking on those knobs.

Another thing that was brought to my attention just lately is that this particular model of the LaGrand has split keyheads, I never paid any attention to that before. Neither good or bad, just interesting.

Right again Erv, the short or close keys are hard to tune but I just use my string winder and grip close to keys which eliminates that problem. They do have split key heads and the reason being to cut on production costs I imagine. Don't have to use as big a piece of aluminum to make. I don't see anything negative because of that. These guitars are well worth the little trouble of the close keys because they sound awesome and really play easy.
