Beautiful steel Glen.
That's a fair price , and a recent Zum is a rare bird.
Someone should jump on this.

does anyone know? the sparkly stuff on the necks. is that to protect the neck from finger wear?
was that something that zumsteel puts on? i've seen it on other zums.
...or is it a stick on aftermarket thing?

Hi Chris
yes they are there for pick protection on the necks ... Tommy Dodd was selling them at Dallas this year as a stick on aftermarket application !

FYI, I received a message from Glen stating that the guitar was sold. That was a few weeks ago.

Tommy Johnson...Zumsteels are no longer being produced (to the best of my knowledge) but remain among the most desirable pedal steel guitars ever built. At one time, the list of Zum players was a veritable 'Who's Who' of steel guitar "royalty" (Hal Rugg, Doug Jernigan, John Hughey, Johnny Cox, Gary Carter, and even the Big E himself, Buddy Emmons to name a few!) In my opinion, they will only become increasingly more valuable (read expensive)as time goes on and $5000.00+ may some day seem like a bargain.
