For anyone visiting Broadway clubs in Nashville, ask around about the great steel player Tommy Hannum. Tommy was Ricky Van Shelton's music director and steel player for many years. He is a world class steel player, Telecaster player, dobro player, and fantastic singer. Composer and arranger of music also. If you want to see one of Nashville's premier players look for Tommy Hannum. He'll knock your socks off. Currently touring playing steel with Wynonna also.

tommy impressed the heck out of me many years ago. came into my house gig and sat in on my steel with
my weird awkward copedent and played way better than
me. at least i found out how good my steel could sound. and he was nice about it!

...as opposed to jeff cook who came in once and played my tele and smelled and was arrogant and didn't even thank me. so now i consider him a smelly jerk.

Tommy Hannum played steel for Ricky Van Shelton until Ricky retired to spend time with his family, and a few years ago, he was playing steel with Clay Walker. He plays an Emmons push-pull

Get his "...Not Rocket Science..." album and prepared to be blown away. I mean...really blown away. Fantastic playing in every style. Blues, Jazz, Rock....he just nails everything with an ace backing band.

I'll be there in two weeks and as usual, will look for him. I recall a few years ago we met, started talking, and he have me a copy of his CD. Not often you get a free CD from a musician (and understandably so), which shows what kind of guy he is.
