Is it alright to leave the pedal plugged in when not in use? I just bought a used VP and it has no on/off switch. Thanks in Advance, Simon

I see no reason to leave it on if you're not using it. The current draw (about 3 watts) is insignificant, but as with any piece of electronic gear that's constantly activated, there's always the chance of a mishap occuring.

I have emailed Hilton with questions in the past and I got an almost immediate response to my questions. That would be the source I would use to get the answer to this question.

Use a (surge protector) power strip. Plug it into the power strip and then turn it off using the power switch on the power strip.

The surge protector type will help in cases of power surges, hits, etc. I have one and run all my equipment from that surge protector power strip.

Yup, I do exactly what Jack does... In fact, my entire home studio turns on with my power strip switch.

My home recording studio is run from a UPS. A "step above" a surge protector power strip.

But, I do use the surge protector power strip on stage. And replace it once a year. Who knows if or how many times it has blocked a spike or surge. The right surge and even though its providing AC power it may no longer be protecting. Cheap insurance to do that. (Same way I would never buy a used surge power strip).

I agree with Jack to use a power strip it's just that I have them all over my playing room for this and that but nothing close to the volume pedal. I guess there will be another one added to my collection. Better safe than sorry. Thanks for the insight guys, Simon

I have a similar Hilton, and I have noticed that if I leave mine plugged in the transformer starts to buzz after a certain amount of time. Not sure how long it takes for this to happen. It may be hours as I does not happen if I am playing for an hour or so. But turning things off is a good thing. And a power strip with a breaker is a wise investment.
