FENDER STEELERS,

Any posts on here dealing with cleaning and lube of
Fender 1000/2000 PSG changers without removing them?

or does anyone have a procedure they could share?

Thanks for your help!

I have done a bunch of them... I usually spray a bunch of WD 40 into everything.. Top and bottom, and work the pedals for a while.. I follow that up with a lot of auto trans fluid, or 3 in 1 oil, or even light motor oil. make sure you don't leave the WD in there, its for cleaning only. .. Also oil up the cable roller at the end of the guitar, all the fulcrums that the pedal rods attach to, and both ends of the pedal rods.. I put some newspaper under the guitar and let it drip.. Its worked great for me over the years.. My 4 Fender cable guitars have always played soft and smooth... Many guys use the dry teflon lubes these days, but my Neanderthal "oil on everything" technique has worked great for me for years on Fender cable steels.. bob

The Fender changers are particularly well shielded from dust and dirt. Unless they're frozen or binding, a couple of drops of good quality oil on each scissor finger every year or two is all that's needed. I 've used gun oil, sewing machine oil, and clock oil, all with good results.
