Hi folks,
I have been looking for an older lap steel to play and/or restore for quite some time now.
I have become very interested in the Electromuse guitars, for whatever reason, plus their
somewhat different tone and I have been looking at this one on Reverb for about 3 months.
It looks to be in good shape, especially the fretboard which is usually beat up, and the rest looks ok too.
The problem is that I have no idea what a realistic price is for this guitar. They say it is a 1940's vintage and it does play well.
I live about 2 hours from where this is located and before I venture off to look at it I was hoping for a quick few guesses at it's value.
I also realize that is a very subjective number and will vary some with everyone.
Their asking price is $375.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Everyone have a good day.
Larry

$150-250. I've seen asking price above that, but never seen one sell for close to $375. |

I have one of those. I call it my "boat paddle" guitar. I picked it up at an estate sale for about $100, maybe $125, I've forgotten for sure in 2008. I only bought it because of the bargain I got on a D10 and felt I should buy something else. It's OK. You can play a lot of music on it. It does not have the tone of the Oahus or the Supros etc. with the string throughs, but it's acceptable.
I tune it in open D or G and play it with the bands I play with for rock and blues. It cuts through OK in my experience, but it can get noisy at higher volumes.
I feel the price I paid is just about right for these and personally wouldn't pay more, MOF, I might pass on buying another one. |

Thank you for your responses. I appreciate it.
I guess I will keep looking for something that catches my eye.
All I want is an older lap that still functions properly and can be refurbished a bit, played as is and be given a little love.
I am looking for something with a bit of "character" and history.
I picked that one because I have had an interest in the Electromuse and it is at an established guitar shop.
I see a lot of guitars in here that I am curious about but I have heard so many horror stories about getting burned I just pass them over.
Thanks again.
