Bobby Black called me today to let me know about a PSG gathering at Gryphon Music in Palo Alto tomorrow 5/1/16 from 2-6pm. I don't have any more details, but it sure sounds like fun. I'm going to do my best to be there (sans PSG). If you're in the Bay Area and are interested, come on down.

Hi Bill:
It's actually a Lap and Non-Pedal Steel Summit at Gryphon later today. Bobby will be there along with builders Todd Clinesmith of Clinesmith Guitars and Scott Walker of Scott Walker Guitars. It is a free event and an opportunity for Bay Area Steelers to meet and try out both new and vintage non-pedal electric steel guitars. You are welcome to bring one to share if you'd like, and perhaps a small amp and cable.
There are posts about this event on both this subpage and elsewhere in the Non-Pedal Section of the SGF.
Hope to see you there and please feel free to invite anyone you know who might be interested. I'd post the link (maybe someone can for me please) but I'm boarding a flight right now to SF after a short tour this weekend.
See you all this afternoon!

Thanks, Larry. I figured this must have been posted elsewhere. Thanks for pulling it together! |

When I saw the title of this thread Bill, I thought perhaps you were inspired to resurrect a steel jam like you put on years ago in San Jose in the Almaden Valley where I grew up.
See you all at Gryphon this afternoon! _________________ Mark |

Hi Mark,
Unfortunately, that facility is no longer available. It was nice because it was free and the room size and acoustics were very good (though some had trouble getting heavy PSGs and amps up and down those stairs).
Mike Perlowin has been hosting PSG meet-ups in SoCal. I've been off the Forum for a while, but I believe he posts about them here. |

Yeah he does, but that's two to three hours of additional driving for me beyond even San Jose since I live north of Santa Rosa.
But I shouldn't complain - Mike did yeoman duty in coming to those San Jose jams, and one year he came up with Jay Dee and the late Al Vescovo. A fine effort by those gentleman.
And a fine effort this weekend by Todd Clinesmith in making the drive to Palo Alto from where he lives outside of Roseburg, Oregon. _________________ Mark |
