I'm needing a clip on headstock tuner primarily for acoustic instruments like reso, mando etc.
There's not much in the budget so I'm looking at these under $15: Fishman FT-1, Intellicouch PT-20 and Korg PC-1. All chromatic. Any experience, thoughts? Thanks. |

+1 on the Fishman. The one I had was adequate for tuning a guitar/mando. I'd still be using it had it been completely waterproof?! |

Planet Waves NS-1 is right around that price point. It has very good reviews as well. _________________ D.S. Rigsby |

I find the Snark best for the money! Also works great on steel, without turning the amp on. |

I have the Snark and Peterson clip on tuners
The Snark is affordable, easy to use, and pretty accurate
The Peterson is expensive and gives me a headache
Anyone want to buy the Peterson? |

There are different clip on Snark model tuners. I have the SN-13 that has a bolder readout. |

+1 for the Snark. I'm the utility player in our band and I use a Snark clip on for mandolin and I have a special clip that allows a Snark to clip on the head lugs of my 6 string banjitar. |

Should mention this about all clip on tuners. The rubber pads on the clip may cause a chemical reaction with a laquer finish such as Gibson & Martin guitars. Don't leave the tuner on the guitar for long periods. This goes for a capo also. Years ago, I left a capo on an ovation guitar and it ate into the neck and left a gummy mess. |

Good point Len. Some of these manufacturers provide disclaimers concerning this, some to the point of advising against use on nitrocellulose and some other finishes. Some others say remove it as soon as you're done tuning.
I think I have a Snark coming. Thanks for all the input. |

The Planet Waves can be found cheaply if you look around...and it is the lowest profile, doesn't stick out at all, less chance of scraping it off, and looks much better...and works fine. _________________ https://www.lostsailorspdx.com

Thanks to forumite Jeff Bollettino, I have received a Snark. It appears to be just what I needed. Even has a silent metronome.
I just noticed Jeff's link to the music store he is affiliated with. Might have to throw some business his way when I can. Thanks Jeff.
