Power supply?
I'd caution anyone against buying a Holy Grail (or really any expensive digital pedal) used. I know a couple of people, including myself, who got HGs with noise issues and other issues, and I can't shake the feeling that someone had tried to power them with the wrong supply.
I've been buying things new lately, and having a warranty and a real customer support is worth WAY more to me than the 25-30% you save buying used.
I use the Strymon Blue Sky, which is amazing but very expensive.
The hype on the brand new MXR Reverb is that it--like the Strymon--sets a new standard. I guess we'll see when people start getting them in the mail. |

Not power supply. Acute deceleration trauma, when I dropped it from the railing on an elevated stage to the concrete below. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Then it was gravity, not you, that killed it. Why take all the blame?
I really enjoyed the "hall" setting on mine until it died. It was very effective for my uses. At this point, though, I consider the Holy Grail to be "old tech." And while EHX has some really cool designs, I personally would not bank on their build quality. |

Id love to A/B the Flint and the Blue Sky. They sound fairly different in clips. |

I'm the butterfingers that dropped it.
I found if I set it for "hall" on the ballads, moving to "spring" on the uptempo numbers worked without turning the knobs. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Here's a vote for the hall reverb on the Holy Grail. What I like about it, is the note stays very clear while having a lush tail that doesn't stop. I have noticed that it sounds better with the Onespot than with the power supply that came with it. _________________ "Be Kind to Animals, don't eat Them"

I am totally sold on the Wet Reverb pedal. I have not heard the Holy Grail, but I understand that both it and the Blue Sky are excellent also. I don't think you can go wrong either way. |

Between the Boss and The Holy Grail I would go with the Holy Grail. I used mine for years. Held up great on the road and sounded fine in the studio. _________________ Bob |

Web Reverb is my favorite. But that's when I'm playing alone for my own listening pleasure. On a gig I go for the Zoom MS-70CDR. The reverb is almost as good, plus it has everything else I could possibly need (EQ, tuner, delay, tremolo, plus others), on a leg clip-on bracket that I built just for the Zoom. |

I feel like I've really gotten my money's worth with the Flint. That and an Earth drive would probably be the first two I'd buy if I lost all of my pedals.
I also have the Wet, RV7, original Holy Grail, and a Premier tank to compare with. Maybe mine is calibrated wrong but I don't like how touchy the Wet reverb is. 8 o'clock on the mix is not enough but 10 o'clock is usually way too much. |

I don't like my Boss RV5... it seems to be more of a pink noise generator than a reverb. |

I have a Reverbamate by Van Amps. It's a analog spring reverb with output level and dwell like the old Fender units but smaller 10" x 6" by 2". I got it for my Vintage 47 Tonemaster amp. I also have a blue sky for the shimmer plus my Boogie Mark 4 has a great reverb also. |

My Holy Grail (hall) is most lovely with just a touch of true spring reverb added from my Peavy Valverb. The combination is a winner. Can't see how it could be any better. Pure Fenderish tone reverbed just right. _________________ "Be Kind to Animals, don't eat Them"

I'm really loving my Polara reverb pedal. As long as I don't have to look at it much. : ). Has a very rich hall reverb. _________________ To write with a broken pencil is pointless. |
