You bet, there's never been a steel guitar cruise before. Its a great way for players to get into cruising, great fellowship & jam sessions. It will be awesome. And because it's a "convention" you may be able to claim it as an expense for a tax deduction depending on how you do your taxes ?!

I'm going through all the possible places I might have a few bucks stashed, and I'm still coming up very short on the money needed to make this cruise--still hoping it can happen!!

How much does the cruise cost?

If it's as cold here in February of next year as it was this year, I might be up for a vacation to a warmer climate. To get to see two of my favorite players, and all around good guys, Roger Crawford and Russ Hicks, would make it even nicer.

Rick, according to weather.com, the average temperature in Cozumel in Februry 2016 was from a low of 68 degrees to a high of 84 degrees. And I concur that Roger and Russ are some of my favorite players, too! Buck-Doug-Russ sounds like a Super Trifecta to me!! For costs and particulars go to www.steelguitarcruise.com. Hope to see you on board!!

I know this Steel Guitar Cruise is 10 months away, but just FYI for those that are NOT regular cruisers: Cruise ships do not sail empty and it is not uncommon for regular cruisers to book their cruises between 6 to 12 months in advance. I'm not trying to "hard sell" anyone; we just don't want for everyone to wait til the last minute to book and then be disappointed.

Also, cruise ships don't usually do payment plans; usually there is a deposit and the balance due in something like 60 days. In this case, our travel agent, JACKI, has made several payment options available so be sure to check those options on www.steelguitarcruise.com by clicking on Booking Info, then select "terms & conditions" and scroll down for the various payment options. I think there is even a monthly payment plan.

We still have more info to come soon about vendors and at least one more "surprise" player from Nashville, as the details develop so please check back to this tread often. Hope to see you there!!!

I respectfully request that Tommy Dodd, as the undisputed king of pop/rock hit reinterpretations on steel guitar, work up a version of Frankie Ford's big hit "Sea Cruise."

Ooo Wee, baby! Ooo Wee!

He may not do that one but I'll bet you have started his producer's (also known as Donna) wheels to turning to develop a theme for a special sea set.

You must have heard that Kim Jung Il, the former ruler of North Korea, had arranged membership for his son, Kim Jung Un (now ruler of NK) in an exclusive yacht club.

It seems he wanted to have a red son in the sail set.

Sorry, the cruise sounds like it would be fun, but to borrow a phrase from Daryl Hall and John Oates, "no can do."
