Dose anyone know the approximate weight of a Sierra Crown series U12...out of the case? That would be an 8/5 or 7/4 setup.
Thanks for any information. |

If its any help, I just checked the UPS waybill for my Sierra Session 12 that I had shipped 4 years ago - it says the weight was "24.5"
If thats 24.5 kg, then that would be 52 llb - which seems a little light since it would have included the case...?
Anyway, I believe the Crown Series is heavier. |

Mick, that's about right for a Session 12. I also have a Session U12 and in it's carpet covered case, it weighs in about the mid 50's lbs. I've heard the Crown series was heavier, but I don't know by how much.
Thanks for your reply! |

Hello Mick
I have of-and-on toyed with the idea of getting a Sierra Crown, maybe in black, if the right opportunity presented itself. My concern is the weight of that beast. If I got one, it would would not be a "out-of-the-house" guitar...would probably end up as a music room item. I'm a Sierra fan and would like to someday own a piece of Sierra heritage. |

can't blame you for wanting another
I do believe the Crown is harder to work on though when it comes to changing copedant.. |

I have a Sierra SC10 and it weighs 52 lbs in the case. The case weighs 20 lbs. Its in my opinion just as easy if not identical underneath as the Session I had before. Mine is a 1991. See it on my website: http://www3.telus.net/gentelben
Just love it. |

Beautiful guitar Ben!
Yes Mick, the Crown series has round shafts vs the Session square shafts. If you want to change the setup, you have to pull the shafts in order to remove the bellcranks. This is a real pain, as I have a vintage MSA Universal that has round shafts. I like to experiment with different setups and the Session is very easy to work on. |

I've got a Crown U12 keyless and it's HEAVY. I'll see if I can find the shipping info for it and let you know the exact weight |
